happy st. nick's day

St. Nick was here!

The "umbrella", i.e. the candy cane, was hand's down Q's favorite. He also enjoyed the ladybug, which brought back memories from St. Nick's Day as a child. Incidently, he never did discover that it was chocolate, he just had fun playing with it.

He brought beach towels for the humans and cow's ears for the canines.

What an enjoyable tradition.

Earlier in the day we looked after Bridie from next door. When Q finally woke up from his nap, he was thrilled to see her. He never took his eyes off her as they built Duplo towers and she read him book after book. He couldn't even be bothered looking at his lunch while he ate. He just blindly shoveled it in.

She wanted Q to have a sleepover at her house that night. When that didn't fly, she asked if he could come live with them. We would have visiting rights! With family so far away, I love meaningful contact like this.
